The internet is such a mixed blessing. On one hand, it’s a source of endless recipes, jokes, music, memes, and cat videos. On the other hand, it’s an absolute torrent of misinformation on any topic you can think of, and buying a new car is no exception. If you’re doing your research on a new Volvo car right now, Fields Volvo Northfield would like to set the record straight.

Here are rebuttals to a few of our “favorites.”

  • There’s no such thing as a better or worse time to buy a car. No salesperson worth their salt waits until the end of the month to get their act together. We’re motivated to help now.
  • Yes, we really are talking to our manager. Sometimes what you’re asking for is outside the boundaries of what we’d normally do, and if we say we can or will do something, it’s because we intend to deliver.
  • Looking for maximum leverage? Don’t hold your cards close to the vest until the end of the sale. If we know upfront that you plan to trade in your car, that you’re leasing and not buying, or that you have a substantial down payment, we can work with those facts in mind so you’re not spending more time than necessary at our Volvo dealership.
  • Your Blue Book, NADA, or other third-party estimate is just that, an estimate. Your old car’s actual value may come in lower — or higher — depending on demand, mileage, and condition.
  • We don’t take you for granted. We rely on your trust, your repeat business, and your referrals to stay in business, and we know those things are earned.

Myths may seem like logical explanations to the parts of car buying with which you’re unfamiliar. But they aren’t going to help you. Your Volvo dealer? That’s a different story. Visit Fields Volvo Northfield for the right answers to your sales, service, and Volvo finance questions. We’re located at 770 Frontage Road.
