While sports fans debate the pennant chase or try to handicap the upcoming NFL season based on preseason performance, Fields Volvo Cars Northfield has our eyes on a different prize. The Volvo brand is in the midst of a renaissance, with many new Volvo vehicles taking top honors in recent years. Let’s look at some of the recent successes.

The Volvo XC90 took top honors as the Business Insider 2015 Car of the Year, Auto Express Car of the Year 2015, and even the 2016 North American Truck of the Year (given that SUVs are often classed in the truck category instead of the car category — regardless, we’ll take it).

2017 saw the (then) all-new Volvo S90 earn a finalist position for North American Car of the Year, and for MotorTrend Car of the Year. And visitors to this year’s New York International Auto Show would have seen the 2018 Volvo XC60 take home honors for North American Utility Vehicle of the Year.

In each case, the cars were cited for their performance (naturally), but also for their cutting-edge technology, and a new-found sense of style that’s moving the Volvo brand past its reputation as a solid but stodgy family hauler.

Oh, and did we mention that the Volvo V90 wagon and Volvo XC40, Volvo XC60 and Volvo XC90 SUVs are all Car and Driver Editor’s Choice designees?

The 2019 Volvo vehicles will soon be assuming their places here at our Volvo dealership. What awards will this year’s models bring in? Only time will tell, but what’s most rewarding for us is helping scores of drivers from Evanston to Glenview find the perfect car, wagon, or SUV for their driving needs. Visit us today at 770 Frontage Road to see all we have to offer.
