The Volvo brand recognizes the growing intersection of the auto and tech industries. They know that their consumers are requiring that their vehicles be as smart as their phones. So, the Volvo brand has risen to the challenge. Want to know more? Let the experts at Fields Volvo Cars Northfield explain.
Last month the Volvo brand announced their new partnership with Google. They will work together to develop the next generation of the in-car infotainment and connectivity system. It will be compatible with Android therefore offering a plethora of apps and services. The companies plan on developing and launching the platform within the next two years. Henrik Green, Senior Vice President Research & Development at Volvo Car Group said the Volvo brand is making an important strategic step with this partnership. This platform and the services it provides will enhance the user experience through personalized possibilities. Android will allow lots of development flexibility.
But this isn't the only technology platform Google and the Volvo brand are working on. They recently announced they are also working on adding Google Local Search. This will improve the current navigation system and be released through an update soon.
"We're thrilled to partner with Volvo to bring Android into their next generation connected cars," said Patrick Brady, Vice President of Android Engineering at Google. "This partnership gives us the opportunity to deliver a more seamless experience to Volvo drivers through a full-featured infotainment platform and rich ecosystem of Android applications and Google services."
