You've heard about the new Volvo XC60 and the cool new marketing tactics the Volvo brand is utilizing to promote the vehicle. Well, we have a new one for you - the Volvo XC60 takes photos! And its not regular security photos you are used to seeing, although the Volvo brand is using the on-board safety cameras. These photos will be taken by Pulitzer Prize winning photographer and artist Barbara Davidson. Want to know more about this cutting edge art the Volvo XC60 is taking part in? Keep reading for additional information.
Barbara Davidson has a personal connection to Volvo vehicles. When she was younger she was involved in a serious car accident and was told she only survived because she was in a Volvo vehicle. The collection is made up of about 30 photos, all taken by the Volvo XC60 safety cameras. Davidson hosted the first exhibit with these photos at a gallery in London and will continue to travel the globe throughout 2017. This is the first time ever that a car has been used as a camera by a photographer.
"The collection does two things. Firstly it is a snapshot of European city life
in all its glory; secondly it also highlights the complex environments that we
live in. It is thanks to the cameras and other on-board sensors that cars like
the Volvo XC60 make modern city life safer for pedestrians and other road
users," said Davidson. "With this project we connect art and safety for people
to see the benefits of this technology."
