We were all very excited about the eclipse that took place on August 21 and we hope you thoroughly enjoyed it. We are sure you heard about the live stream the Volvo brand sponsored with CNN, but the Volvo brand did even more for their customers to make sure they experienced the eclipse safely thanks to some pretty neat technology.

The Volvo brand wanted to make sure that their consumers were able to enjoy the eclipse safely from their Volvo vehicle, so the brand designed and developed a custom eclipse viewer and shipped it to Volvo retailers in the eclipse’s path in Oregon, Idaho, Nebraska, Missouri and South Carolina. This viewer was made of ISO-certified 12312-2 material with a magnetic frame that attached to the roof of the vehicle. It fits perfectly on the panoramic moonroof of the all-new 2018 Volvo XC60. It is important that you view the eclipse through the correct methods and materials so you don’t harm your eyes.

“The development of the Volvo XC60 Panoramic Moonroof Eclipse Viewer gives those in the eclipse’s path a unique way to experience this historic event in both comfort and safety,” said Bob Jacobs, Vice President of Marketing, Product and Brand Communications, Volvo Car USA. “For those not in the path of totality, we will live-stream the eclipse in virtual reality and 4K high-resolution, 360 degree video.”
