Last month, Volvo Cars announced that it plans to sell at least one million electrified cars by the year 2025. With this new plan, the Swedish premium carmaker is demonstrating its commitment to providing greener and cleaner vehicles to drivers of new Volvo models. Volvo Cars aims to do this by offered at least two hybrid versions of every new Volvo model in its vehicle lineup as well as by releasing the first all-electric car in 2019. Here at your Volvo dealers serving Evanston, Fields Volvo Northfield, we are excited and proud to be associated with a brand that takes this kind of stand.
The electrified car pledge is one aspect of the Volvo brand’s wide ranging sustainability program. The Volvo Cars brand has been preparing itself for years for the emergence of electric vehicles and has developed two new vehicle architecture plans for larger and smaller cars: the Scalable Product Architecture and Compact Modular Architecture. Both of which can incorporate either hybrid or fully electric car technology. Hakan Samuelsson, president and chief executive of Volvo Cars, had this to say about the plan:
"It is a deliberately ambitious target. It is going to be a challenge, but Volvo wants to be at the forefront of this shift to electrification. Sustainability is nothing new or something sits outside our operations, it is something that forms an integral part of everything we do. It is simply our way of operating. This new sustainability commitment reflects Volvo Cars’ fundamental belief that we must also grow responsibly."
Here at Fields Volvo Northfield, our team is proud to be a part of such a commitment and we are proud of the entire lineup of capable and efficient new Volvo models that are currently on our lot, so head on down today to ask us any questions you may have and get set up on a test drive today!
