Our team wants to help you keep your car running like new for years to come, so let us give you some tips about tire care!
With every mile that you put on your vehicle, your tires experience more wear and tear. Tire wear is important to stay on top of because it can affect both safety and performance. There are several ways that you can monitor and inspect your tires to ensure that they are in good working condition. First off, our team recommends taking a look at the vehicle owner’s manual to review its tire care instructions. It will inform you of how often you should get your tires rotated, when your tires should be replaced, and what PSI your tires should be filled to. It’s important to fill your tires to the proper PSI as both overinflated and underinflated tires can result in uneven wear and tear and can cause flat tires or blowouts.
Another easy way to ensure that your tires are in good working condition is by checking the tire tread. Tire tread is extremely important as it is what maintains contact with the surface of the road to keep traction between the vehicle and the road. It is especially important that tire tread is of the proper depth in inclement weather, as it is what reaches through the ice and snow and rain to grip the road surface. You can check tread depth by employing the penny test. Simply take a penny and insert in the tire rib with Lincoln’s head facing down. If his head disappears, your tire tread is good; if you can see all or some of his head, it’s time to get those tires replaced.
