The Highway Robbery campaign demonstrates how power and performance can come from unexpected places. One way the Volvo Cars brand showed this is through the new XC90 T8 Twin Engine that takes the honor of being the first plug-in hybrid vehicle that is powered by gas, electricity, and other vehicles. Volvo used a custom peristaltic pump that is placed over the roadway and that generates electricity to fuel the nearby charging station when other vehicles drove over it. The Volvo XC90 T8 was able to connect to it. John Militello, Director of Marking, Volvo Cars USA, had this to say about the new T8 Twin Engine:

"The all-new Volvo XC90 T8 proves that great power can come from anywhere, from traditional engines to electric motors, and beyond. Highway Robbery is yet another way we are able to showcase our thinking not just about our cars, but how they can affect the world around them. We’re posing big questions as we seek out new, fresh ways about how and where we can enable the future of driving."

The Volvo XC90 T8 Twin Engine is the world’s first plug-in hybrid and seven-seat SUV that offers power and efficiency that has a combined output of 400 horsepower.
