Coming soon to Northfield is the 2016 Volvo XC90. Fully redesigned, this crossover SUV has been constructed using innovative, Scandinavian design influences with a luxurious interior and a plethora of modern features. What’s also notable about the vehicle is its use of Drive-E Platform engines, including a high-powered hybrid powertrain.

Standard 2016 Volvo XC90 models come standard with the T6 engine, a 2.0L four-cylinder engine that has been both turbocharged and supercharged to produce the same level of power as a naturally-aspirating V6 engine. Capable of 316 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, these models can go from zero to 60 mph in just a quick 6.6 seconds.

What’s also notable and fairly unique for the large crossover class is the 2016 Volvo XC90 car’s other engine: a powerful yet efficient hybrid powertrain. The T8 plug-in hybrid powertrain starts with the same supercharged and turbocharged four-cylinder engine as the T6, but then supplements power fed from a battery pack. This raises total power to 400 hp.

The hybrid version can be driven solely on electric power for up to 25 miles. There’s no range anxiety either thanks to the gasoline engine.

Three trim levels are available for either engine. Models start with plenty of luxury features like comfortable and sophisticated leather seating, along with innovative safety features like the Volvo City Safety system. This feature enables the Volvo crossover to detect people and cars ahead of the vehicle and stop the car if a collision is imminent. Higher trim levels have even more like wood interior trim and Nappa leather.
