If you've spent a little time visiting our Fields Volvo Northfield blog, then you know that the Volvo brand has its sights set on some pretty exceptional goals for the future. Volvo Cars is exploring a number of outlets for continued growth, and the brand recently identified one such opportunity right here in the United States.
Volvo Cars recently announced its plans to construct a new manufacturing facility in the United States, progressing its efforts toward growth as a global car maker. The new facility comprises a $500 million investment that marks the beginning of the brand's efforts toward activating a long-term commitment to better serving the U.S. market. With the addition of a U.S. manufacturing facility, Volvo Cars has now established its industrial efforts in three identified key continents with two factories currently in operation in Europe, two in China and one to launch in the United States.
This manufacturing expansion follows the brand's 2010 announcement of ongoing transformation efforts that seek to establish a global industrial footprint as the brand proceeds with renewing its full product range over the next four years. In addition, the brand has announced its intentions to continue creating world-first safety technologies, develop modular vehicle technology, provide a variety of exclusive connectivity services and introduce a new design language.
Our dealership staff feels that the establishment of a U.S. factory will go far in progressing the product offering of Volvo cars in Northfield and beyond. Additionally, we expect the plant to open up more job opportunities in its surrounding community.
At this early stage in the process, the automaker is still making selections from a list of potential locations. Check back in for updates on the final location for the new facility.
