Every year, the World Traffic Safety Symposium hands out their World Traffic Safety Achievement Award. For 2014, the awards were handed out at the New York International Auto Show and we are thrilled to report that the Volvo brand was awards the 2014 World Traffic Safety Achievement Award.

This award is meant to acknowledge and honor all of the research and development the Volvo brand has conducted to increase automotive and pedestrian safety. Through this hard work, features such as pedestrian detection system have been developed and implemented. Available in the upcoming and all-new 2015 Volvo XC90, the pedestrian detection will be able to detect other vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists while driving in darkness, and then apply the auto brake technology as needed.  

Volvo Cars is even working on a pedestrian airbag, which would further increase safety for everyone.
