Your friends here at Fields Volvo Northfield are proud of our brand's commitment to advancing automotive technology, especially in terms of hybrid and electric technology. Today we would like to bring you a story about some of the most current research happening at Volvo Car Groups surrounding electric cars. We hope you can read on below to learn all about it.
We are excited to share that Volvo Car Group has been working as a partner in an advanced research project which is examining possibilities of inductive charging for electric vehicles. As the results start to come in, the researchers are finding that this type of advanced technology for transferring energy through an electromagnetic field has a promising future. We are excited to see what more comes out of this research, and we hope you'll stay tuned to find out with us!
Lennart Stegland, vice president of the electric propulsion system at Volvo Car Group, spoke of this progress and research by saying:
"Inductive charging has great potential. Cordless technology is a comfortable and effective way to conveniently transfer energy. The study also indicates that it is safe. ... There is not yet any common standard for inductive charging. We will continue our research and evaluate the feasibility of the technology in our hybrid and electric car projects."
