Here at Fields Volvo Northfield, safety and security for our drivers and passengers remains one of our top priorities. Today we are pleased to be able to bring you safety news about one of our newest models, the 2014 Volvo S80. Read on below to learn more.
The 2014 Volvo S80 was recently tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. We are incredibly proud to report that the results are in, and the 2014 Volvo S80 was named a Top Safety Pick+. The 2014 Volvo S80 joins the Volvo S60, XC60 and XC90, all of which received the Top Safety Pick+ designation in 2013.
In order to be named a Top Safety Pick+, vehicles much perform well in tests such as the small overlap front test. This test looks at what would happen when the front corner of the vehicle strikes another vehicle or object. The safety cage, among other things, helped the 2014 Volvo S80 perform well in these and other safety tests.
Thomas Broberg, senior safety advisor at Volvo Car Group, spoke about this recent safety award. Here's what he had to say:
"The IIHS Top Safety Pick+ emphasizes the sustainability of our safety leadership. We are moving closer to our aim that by 2020 no one should be injured or killed in a new Volvo. Our long-term vision is that cars should not crash."
