Volvo electric vehicles prove safe!

At your favorite Chicago certified Volvo dealer, we pride ourselves on a strong safety reputation because safety is of utmost importance to us. We strive to make sure not only our drivers and passengers are protected, but everyone on the road. We put our vehicles through a though crash test regimen to ensure that our high safety standards are met and the result is a line-up built on security.

As the automotive industry changes, so have our vehicles and we are not proud to offer electric vehicles along with what you've always known and loved. But just because the vehicles are changing doesn't mean our safety standards are.

When it comes to our electrified vehicles, they're going through tough testing just like all the others, and as the results come in we want to be sure to share them with you.

So far the C30 DRIVe and the V60 hybrid plug-in have both been tested. The results? They've both fared exceptionally well!

Today we'll focus on the V60 plug-in hybrid. One of the tests it went through was the destructive 70-percent overlap rear impact. For this test, the vehicle was struck in the rear by a sled moving at 55 miles per hour. As intended, Volvo's wagon immediately deforms upon impact, but its rear-mounted battery pack remains intact! Sensors fitted to the V60 plug-in immediately cut electrical power if the impact is severe, while a system fitted to the battery vents gas if the pack is breached. Pretty impressive!
